Personal Development – Passions and Ambition Pursuing

Behind Her Smile (1)

Do you love what you do everyday? Do you have dreams and aspirations to do something else? What is it? How are you going to get there?

You’ll probably need a pen and paper for this one. A lot of self reflection will be taking place!

About six months ago I asked myself these questions after numerous signs that my story was meant to help others. Although, I do love my jobs, I knew and know that the experiences and challenges I face daily are chapters that will be used in my story. I started as a Behavior Interventionist in August of 2015. My daughter was 7 months old at the time, I needed a job, I applied and I was hired. Little did I know that this “job” I was taking would have an influence in me pursuing my passion.

In the midst of my self-reflection I came up with criteria I needed to remember and follow.

First, listen to your dissatisfaction. We’ve been conditioned to think that dissatisfaction isn’t a good thing. If you’re not where you want to be career wise and you’ve been miserable, find guidance through our Heavenly Father, pray and ponder the fact that he may have another plan for you.

Secondly, how are you going to influence others when you find your purpose? This was a big one for me. I write for fun and a way to express my thoughts in a judgement free zone. So, why would I think it was a good idea to share my words with others? To help them. That’s why. After speaking with my family about starting my blog they common theme was “You will help someone, Ashley”. There are women everywhere who look like “they have it all” when it reality they are an empty, unkempt, big ball of a mess. What fires you up? What are you passionate about? What’s something nobody has to tell you to do because you enjoy doing it so much. When your talents and passions are used together they will have a deep impact on others emotional and spiritual level.

Next, stop doubting yourself! For a long, long, long…long time I hesitated and didn’t follow through with something as simple as starting a blog. Easy breezy, right? Okay, I say simple but I questioned and doubted myself. “What if nobody reads it?” “What if it really doesn’t help anyone?” Those questions I had to truthfully answer and once I did without quitting—I knew I was ready. I had talk time with the Lord and I, being disobedient, continued not to listen and doubt every instruction that was given to me. I speak about goal setting a lot because it’s something that honestly has helped my confidence. Goal setting puts things into perspective that you wouldn’t usually notice if you didn’t write it down. Write down goals, short and long, act on them, set a date to reevaluate and go from there.

Chronicles 16:11 “Look to the Lord and His strength; seek his face always”

I would seek him but hid when it was time to use my voice, my testimony and my story to glorify Him.

Lastly, I had to rid myself of “If only”. I know quite a few people but I felt as if I didn’t know the “right” people. Meaning, I didn’t think my use of social media was big enough to start my blog. I had to learn to use what I had instead of harping on the things I thought I didn’t have.

I know every year I’ve said, “This year is going to be MYyear!” and, it ends up being a repeat of the previous years. Well, 2018 I’m alive and well!

Shock yourself and see what happens when you don’t give up!

Hebrews 11:6 -“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him”
